Nancy
Vangrofsky -
Third Grade
Teacher
Welcome
to the
exciting and
busy world
of Corpus
Christi
School’s
Third Grade.
It is my
pleasure and
delight to
teach this
wonderful
grade. I
have been at
Corpus
Christi for
12 years,
and each
year is more
exciting and
challenging
than the
ones that
came before.
I believe
that
teaching and
helping to
shape young
and eager
minds is one
of the
greatest
gifts we can
receive. I
approach
each day
filled with
a sense of
wonder and
awe, as I
wait to see
what the
third grade
brings to my
door.
Last year
the third
grade worked
very hard in
all their
subject
areas.
Thanks to
contributions
from our
parents and
families, as
well as the
enormous
amount of
books we
read in
class, the
third grade
total for
the school’s
Read 100
Challenge
was 130
books! We
were
introduced
to the
wonderful
and unusual
characters
like
“Matilda,”
“Charlie and
the Great
Glass
Elevator,”
“The Mouse
and the
Motorcycle,”
“Ramona
Quimby,”
“Sarah,
Plain and
Tall,” “Ali
Baba
Bernstein,”
“Anthony
Reynoso,”
and many
others. This
year the
third grade
will meet
these, as
well as
other new
friends in
our travels
through
various
literary
genres. In
addition,
the class
particularly
enjoyed
their
“construction”
projects
based on
different
scenes,
characters,
and plots of
some of the
books and
stories we
enjoyed.
Corpus
Christi
School
presents a
warm,
compassionate
and
challenging
learning
environment
for all its
students.
You can see
and feel
everyone’s
commitment
to
excellence
on our
walls, in
the
classrooms,
and on the
faces of our
students and
teachers.
All of our
teaching is
infused with
Catholic
principles
and ideals.
One of my
most
favorite
parts of the
day is
Morning
Prayer on
the third
floor, done
with grades
1, 2, and 3.
It is a time
for everyone
to reconnect
with God,
and to focus
on the tasks
ahead. It is
a wonderful
and peaceful
way to start
each school
day. We are
all here to
grow and
learn from
each other.
